The challenge? Replacing an iconic beer
In a market dominated by giants like Jupiler, Fritapapa has taken a bold gamble: create your own beer, a pilsner. Why? Because consumers are increasingly looking for local and authentic products.
The goal was clear: replace Jupiler in the 18 Fritapapa points of sale with a beer that resembles them, while keeping the Pils taste that their customers love.
The challenge? Create a visual identity that is familiar enough to reassure consumers and avoid confusion, but unique enough to avoid legal issues.
The strategy: listen first, create later
Despite the presence of "Beerapapa" craft beers in their stores, the numbers were clear: Pils remains the favorite among Fritapapa customers. This data guided our entire branding strategy: to create a Pils that respects the codes of the genre while carrying the unique DNA of Fritapapa.
First challenge Make the beer instantly recognizable without copying Jupiler.
Our first version was indeed very closely inspired by the iconic Belgian beer. Too closely, even! To avoid any plagiarism issues, we adjusted the design.
Result: A visual identity that maintains a reassuring familiarity while asserting its own personality.
